John Deakle passed the Mississippi Bar in 1976 and opened a practice for the general practice of law later that year. In addition to the general practice of law, Mr. Deakle was elected and served four years as a county prosecutor in Perry county, Mississippi. Starting in the early 80s John developed his practice to encompass personal injury, maritime, mass torts, Environmental litigation, as well as other areas of plaintiff-side practice and litigation.
Through the 1980s and 1990s The Deakle Law firm became well known for aggressive and successful litigation on behalf of clients both in South Mississippi and beyond. If he was not arguing a case in the courthouse, Mr. Deakle could be found giving guest lectures and talks across the country from Oregon to Colorado to back in his home state of Mississippi. As The Deakle Law firm continued to build a reputation for authoritative and professional representation of clients both individually and as members of class actions, Mr. Deakle became a well-recognized and respected attorney, acting as lead class counsel for several nationwide class settlements.
Around the mid 90s and early 2000’s, Mr. Deakle began to pursue Asbestos claims on behalf of clients throughout the Southeastern United States. In the period since The Deakle Law Firm began working on Asbestos claims, The Firm has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in claims for more than 10,000 clients.
John looks forward to joining with his sons to build upon a family tradition of zealous advocacy, honesty, and professional ethics in service to the people of the Pine Belt area.
